Leaker Claims NVIDIA Is Launching RTX 4080 Ti Early Next Year
If youβve been paying attention to benchmarks of NVIDIAβs top two GPUs right now β the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080 β chances are you had wondered why there is such a huge gap that sits in between two cards, as if seemingly a model in-between should occupy the gap. Youβd be correct, assuming what leaker claims holds true.
MEGAsizeGPU (@Zed__Wang) is one of the highly reliable leakers out there when it comes to GPUs, and this time around they claimed a stronger version of RTX 4080 (here referred as β4080Sβ) is in the works. The RTX 4080 Ti will launch in early 2024, and uses the AD102 silicon β not the AD103 that current 4080 silicon uses. TGP is expected to be below 450W, and as far as price is concerned (though this isnβt always reliable), itβll be at the βsame price rangeβ as the 4080.
There will be a 4080S(maybe Ti) in early 2024.
Based on AD102, TGP below 450W, same price range as 4080β MEGAsizeGPU (@Zed__Wang) October 7, 2023
There are some things that are still unconfirmed at this point β notably, VRAM and memory bus. That being said, it wonβt be too far off to say 20GB/320-bit is likely the sweet spot, given that 4090 occupies the top-of-the-line 24GB/384-bit while 4080 uses a more mainstream 16GB/256-bit configuration.
Another point worth noting is that this could mean 4080 is likely receiving a price cut if the RTX 4080 Ti is indeed landing itself on the similar price range as the former. Given that the pricing and value proposition of the second-best RTX 40 card has been markedly subpar with its $1,100 MSRP (or RM6,300 here), a price cut should make it more price competitive and offers better value for gamers (plus, it may force AMD to play their hand in pricing, too).

Pokdepinion: Not too surprising, given the gaping hole between two top cards from Team Green.
