Microsoftβs Bing AI Chatbot Is Now Limited To 50 Turns Per Day
As too many of them can cause the AI to go off the rails.

Starting last Friday, Microsoftβs ChatGPT-powered Bing AI has starts to limit itself to a maximum of 5 chat turns per session, and 50 chat turns per day. The reasoning for it was due to the AI confusing itself as the conversation drags on for too long. Microsoft clarifies that a turn means βa conversation exchange which contains both a user question and a reply from Bing.β
As PCMag found out β once the 5-turn limit is reached, the chatbot will end the session with the following response: βThanks for this conversation! Iβve reached my limit, will you hit βNew topic,β please?β, and it wouldnβt talk about why the limit came to be when asked.
Microsoft says the AI may provide inconsistent responses when the chat turns hit 15 and beyond in a single session, so the restriction is meant to βhelp focus the chat sessionsβ. Despite the limit, the company says this wonβt hold back its usefulness. βOur data has shown that the vast majority of people find the answers theyβre looking for within 5 turns and that only ~1% of chat conversations have 50+ messages,β the company added. However, if the models improve, the company says the restriction may be reduced.
