Interesting to see what Malaysians have been Google searching onβ¦aside from +18 content of course.
2016 is almost coming to an end, and weβre already in the middle point of December. Itβs times like this where we sit down and reminisce on what weβve managed to accomplish this yearβ¦or cry at the lack of accomplishments depending on what youβve been doing so far.
We could do a year in review for ourselves here at Pokde.net but I think the more interesting thing to do here is to see what Malaysians have been searching on Google in 2016, and hereβs the results.

What Have Malaysians Been Searching on Google in 2016?

So the folks over at Google Malaysia shared a unique perspective on this yearβs major events, news, and trending topics. This data is obtained solely on searches via https://google.com.my/. Of course, there will be a crapload of stuff to show if they were to release the entire search history so basically, theyβve shared the ones being searched on most.
Topping the list of the countryβs 2016 Trending Searches is βEuro 2016β, the football championship among European nations which took place in June and July. The 2nd spotΒ belongs to βPokemon GOβ, the augmented reality Pokemon game that sent everyone into a frenzy when it launched in August. In 3rd place is the annual government financial aid programme βBR1M.β The rest of the top 5 is rounded off by the public school exam analysis system for parents βSAPS Ibu Bapaβ as well as another global sports event βOlympic Games Rio 2016.β
The rest of the trending searches on the top 10 include hit local Malay drama, βSuri Hati Mr Pilotβ and β7 Hari Mencintaikuβ, South Korean zombie apocalypse film, βTrain to Busanβ, the K-pop Mnet Asian Music Awards, βMAMA 2016β and South Korean hit drama series, βDescendants of The Sun.β
Believe it or not, the number 1 trending person is Mr. Build-a-wall himself, the US President-elect Donald Trump. Local actress βAtikah Suhaimeβ was in the spotlight in 2nd place over some alleged photo leaks. South Korean heartthrob βSong Joong Kiβ is in the 3rd spot due to his starring role in Descendants of The Sun. In the 4th spot is singer βAiman Tinoβ with his 2016 song hit song Ku Rela Dibenci followed by the luscious βMargot Robbieβ who played Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad movie.
The rest of the annual trending people searches rounding off the top 10 are: actress Syatilla Melvin, housewife video gone viral Nadia Nordin, controversial Indian Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, Chinaβs superstar badminton player βLin Danβ and lastly US presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton.
