Too Early To Say GTA VI Gets Delayed, Sources Say
Previously, Kotaku has reported from sources within Rockstar Games alleging that Grand Theft Auto VI, the studioβs most anticipated launch of the decade, may end up delayed as far back as 2026. The news coincided with Rockstarβs return-to-office orders to catch up with the development schedule, which puts questions on whether the game may launch in 2025 as promised.
Since the original report, Kotaku has provided more details on the gameβs target launch date. The publication was told that early 2025 was at one point possible, but it is no longer the case; instead, the studio is currently targeting βFall 2025β launch. However, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg has reached out to his sources from Rockstar Games, and the response was β essentially β nothing significant has changed.
Mike Straw of Insider Gaming has asked his sources regarding the matter, and the answer is similar to Schreierβs: all of them say the game was βon scheduleβ, and that any suggestion of GTA VIβs delay right now is βpure conjectureβ.
Barring any major incidents, this means the game should be on track to launch sometime in 2025. As Schreier noted, while there is a possibility that the game may get delayed, itβs impossible to tell what will happen in the next 21 months from now. He said βthousands of peopleβ are working on the game, with βmany in their own silos where they are writing code for weather physics or recording actor performances or hunting for bugs on the streets of fake Miami.β
Pokdepinion: There certainly is a lot of weight being put on developers of GTA VI right now, as the entire gaming industry is expecting them to deliver a banger.Β
