Unboxing

Inside the now familiar box, you’ll find the Razer Raiju V3 Pro controller, the USB dongle (Razer HyperSpeed Wireless tech, in case you were wondering), a USB-C charging cable, two additional styles of thumbsticks, four back button covers, and a screwdriver for swapping those out. All of this comes nestled in a hard case that Razer has used with the Wolverine line, fitting perfectly with a net up top for holding the USB cable.

Walkaround

Razer Raiju V3 Pro Review — Performance Over Immersion - 19

My biggest curiosity was whether the build would resemble the Wolverine V3 Pro or the Dualsense controller. The truth is somewhere in between. The Razer Raiju V3 Pro feels flatter, with longer handles to enhance grip, and parallel sticks that require a different hold. The textured plastic handles continue Razer’s tradition of solid grip.

On the controller are nearly identical controls to the Wolverine V3 Pro, with the addition of the PlayStation touch pad. The parallel thumbsticks are the main difference, while the mecha-tactile face buttons remain clicky and responsive.
Razer also includes M buttons, HyperTriggers, and TMR thumbsticks.

The TMR sticks feel natural compared to Hall Effect sticks, though the wider thumbstick well feels unusual. HyperTriggers are outstanding, offering quick swaps between full pulls and mouse-click responsiveness. The M buttons are well-placed, mouse-click styled, and customizable with removable covers. Additional M buttons near the bumpers and triggers expand functionality further.

The Good

Excellent build quality

The Raiju V3 Pro feels solid in hand, with textured grips and a flatter design that enhances comfort during long sessions. Its premium construction sets it apart from many competitors, even PlayStation’s own DualSense. Speaking of which, it’s also lighter than the DualSense by about 22g. Moreover, the use of TMR thumbsticks mean that stick drift isn’t something you have to worry about.

Outstanding HyperTriggers

Razer’s HyperTriggers are among the best on the market, allowing instant swaps between full pulls and mouse-click responsiveness. Playing shooters like Apex Legends and Overwatch has been phenomenal. They deliver precision and speed that competitive players will appreciate, but even the average gamer will appreciate the swaps for different games. For competitive play, it definitely works great, though the lack of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers makes it less immersive compared to the DualSense.

Well-placed M buttons and paddles

The redesigned M buttons are intuitive, responsive, and customizable. Their mouse-click feel ensures accuracy, while removable covers add flexibility for different playstyles. It’s also worth noting that the paddles are removable if one wishes to do so, which is especially helpful in case tournaments don’t allow it or if you want to prevent accidental presses.

Superb battery life

Razer Raiju V3 Pro Review — Performance Over Immersion - 27

With up to 36 hours of use, the Raiju far outlasts the PS5 DualSense. This makes it ideal for marathon gaming sessions without constant recharging. While sometimes I do get an hour or two less, it’s generally consistent for the most part. If you’re getting noticeably less, it may be due to the polling rate. To be precise, you can enjoy up to 2,000Hz polling rate only on PC, whereas using it with PS5 will only give you the option of 250Hz or 500Hz. As a result, your mileage can vary quite a bit depending on which platform you’re gaming on.

Strong customization options

Between the Synapse PC app and the Razer Controller mobile app, players have extensive control over settings like deadzones, trigger sensitivity, and remapping. This level of customization is an advantage, and being able to do so on-the-go is a major plus. Not to forget, it does have built-in memory profiles, so you can set up to 4 different profiles and adjust it freely on both PC and mobile apps.

Premium carrying case included

The included hard shell case adds convenience and protection, making it easy to store and transport the controller and accessories. It has dedicated compartments so you can easily keep things neat and organized while you’re bringing it out and about.

The Bad

Wider thumbstick wells

The thumbstick wells feel unusually wide compared to other controllers, which can affect precision and take time to adjust to. You do have the option of a taller or shorter cap for the thumbsticks, so you can adapt to different games with ease.

Missing haptic feedback and adaptive triggers

Razer Raiju V3 Pro Review — Performance Over Immersion - 45

While excellent for competitive play, the Raiju lacks the immersive haptics and adaptive triggers of the DualSense, making it less engaging for PlayStation-exclusive experiences. The idea here is that Razer is focusing purely on performance so if your focus is more on unleashing your skills rather than immersion, it’s hard to look elsewhere.

Higher price point

Razer Raiju V3 Pro Review — Performance Over Immersion - 47

At RM899, the Razer Raiju V3 Pro is noticeably more expensive than the first party Dualsense controller. While the quality justifies the cost, budget-conscious players may hesitate. Personally for me, this feels more suited for competitive shooters but it can do decently well (definitely better than the DualSense thanks to its buttons’ short travel distance) for fighting games if arcade sticks / hit boxes aren’t your thing.

Razer Raiju V3 Pro Verdict

Razer Raiju V3 Pro Review — Performance Over Immersion - 49

The Razer Raiju V3 Pro is a premium controller that delivers superb competitive performance, excellent triggers, and customization options. While it lacks the immersive features of the DualSense, it excels in responsiveness and battery life, making it a strong choice for competitive players who value precision and durability. For PlayStation 5 owners, it would be best to have both this and a DualSense controller so you can enjoy games competitively and for immersion but for PC gamers, choosing this as your one and only gamepad is ideal if you can stomach its asking price.

At the end of our Razer Raiju V3 Pro review, I award this controller with our coveted Gold Pokdeward.
